I have a friend who has asked me to flatten and reload Windows XP on her machine as she does not have the Administrator password. I have tried using F4 to go to restore mode as I believe there is a hidden partition on the HDD. This function does not seem to work, so I e-mailed Averatec Support to ask them if I need a restore disk or a copy of the OEM Windows XP disk to load a fresh copy. They responded saying that since the machine was out of warranty they could not help, what kind of support organisation is this? I could use a standard version of Windows XP but I don’t think it will accept the Averatec OEM serial number. Can anyone help?
